Description
We are looking for an experienced and trustworthy Gold Appraiser to assess the quality, purity, weight, and value of gold ornaments and other precious metal items. The Gold Appraiser will ensure accurate valuation and proper documentation while following company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Examine and appraise gold jewellery and precious metal items submitted by customers.
Verify the authenticity and purity of gold using approved testing methods and equipment.
Accurately weigh gold ornaments and assess net gold weight after considering stones, other materials, and deductions.
Calculate the value of gold based on applicable company valuation rates and procedures.
Identify potential counterfeit, adulterated, damaged, or suspicious items.
Inspect jewellery for hallmarks, markings, workmanship, and other authenticity indicators.
Conduct gold appraisal for gold loan applications, renewals, and related transactions, as applicable.
Maintain accurate appraisal records, valuation details, and supporting documentation.
Ensure all appraisal activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Handle customer jewellery carefully and maintain strict confidentiality and security.
Coordinate with the Branch Manager and operations team regarding appraisal-related matters.
Reassess pledged gold when required during renewal, settlement, or other branch processes.
Report discrepancies, suspicious items, or unusual transactions to management immediately.
Maintain and properly handle gold-testing equipment and ensure it is in good working condition.
Stay updated on gold prices, appraisal procedures, and relevant industry practices.
Required Qualifications
Diploma / Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification is preferred.
2–5 years of experience in gold appraisal, gold loans, jewellery, or precious metals is preferred.
Strong knowledge of gold purity, karat systems, weighing, and valuation.
Experience using gold-testing and weighing equipment.
High level of honesty, integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Good communication and customer-handling skills.
Ability to work responsibly with high-value assets.
