Description
Gate and globe valves are both used to control fluid flow in pipelines, but they have different designs and applications:
Gate Valve
Design: A gate valve has a wedge-shaped gate that moves up and down to open or close the valve. When the gate is fully raised, the valve is fully open, allowing unrestricted flow. When the gate is lowered, it blocks the flow.
Globe Valve
Design: A globe valve has a spherical body with an internal baffle that directs the flow of fluid through a constricted passage. The flow is controlled by raising or lowering a plug or disc against a seat.
