On September 2, 2024, star javelin thrower Sumit Antil became the first Indian man and the second person from the country to defend a Paralympic title. He achieved this by winning the F64 category gold with a Paralympic record throw of 70.59 m at the Paris Games.
The 26-year-old world record holder from Sonipat, Haryana, surpassed his previous Paralympic record of 68.55 m, which he set in Tokyo three years ago while winning the gold.
