New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a significant push for domestic semiconductor production, emphasizing that India offers a comprehensive ecosystem for chip manufacturers. “This is the ideal moment to invest in India. In the 21st century, India is the place where chips are never down. When challenges arise, you can rely on India,” PM Modi stated at Semicon India, a three-day event dedicated to India’s semiconductor policy.
The Prime Minister expressed his vision of having an Indian-made chip in every global device, noting that investments exceeding â‚ą1.5 lakh crore have been pledged towards semiconductor manufacturing, with several projects underway.
“India presents a unique opportunity with its reform-driven government, expanding manufacturing sector, and technology-focused market,” he told the chipmakers. He highlighted the country’s integrated semiconductor ecosystem, stable policies, and favorable business environment.
